Bush on the Couch

February 8, 2005

Sooner or later, every president is the subject of a "psycho-history." These works usually claim to explain the policies, behavior and even mannerisms of the occupant of the Oval Office based on a pseudo-psychological examination dating back to his childhood.
Now, it's George W. Bush's turn on the couch:

UPDATE: A reader rightly asks for clarification on a couple of points. This post was of course meant as a joke (admittedly, a juvenile one). Also, the choice of title for the post was unfortunate, as it was in no way meant as a commentary or reflection on the Justin Frank book of the same name.

  1. I agree with Joe. To borrow from Churchill, Never before has someone with so little to offer been given so much and done so little with it.

  2. Congrats on the Wonkette link. Not likeing this gues editor so much though (on Wonkette) - I miss the penis jokes and AM Cox would have had a shit fit of happiness over this.

  3. Congrats on the Wonkette link. Not liking this guest editor so much though (on Wonkette) - I miss the penis jokes and AM Cox would have had a shit fit of happiness over this.

  4. I like Wonkette and our current writer both.
People always bitch about it when a guest blogger comes on board. Hey, people are different.
Bush? He's an antichrist, and I've always thought that there was more than one.
So now, we have the brilliant Karl Rove, who obviously has masterminded the art of "I'm not a reporter, but I play one on TV" skills as well. Him and his whisper campaigns. Someone ought to whisper something in HIS ear, like in an old movie I saw once, where someone who "knows the goods" on Rove, makes his sphincter muscle contract into a cramp, and die of a heart attack on the spot.
Oh, by the way, word has it that Rove is interviewing a NEW assistant today at the White House : Joseph Steffin, aka "Dr. Death" (a name he chose for himself), who formerly worked for Gov. Bob Erlich of Maryland, but left his job the other day. If you're not familiar with the scoop, read all about it folks - Google works.

  5. "Pseudo-psycological examination"? I don't think so. I actually read the book, "Bush On The Couch" and the author is a psychiatrist with thirty years experience as an psychoanalyst. So what he wrote is not "pseudo". Unfortunately, according to the book Bush's psycological problems don't stem so much from issues involving his penis (the thematic underpinnings of the Wonkette's wonderful blog) but from the death of his sister in his childhood, the frequent absence of his father, and his mother's emotional detachment. Hence his alcoholism, sadism, and belligerence. But you were just joking anyway, right?

  6. Tim,
Good post regarding the "Bush on the Couch" book. My post was absolutely meant as a joke. Also, the choice of title for the post was unfortunate, as it was in no way meant as a commentary or reflection on the Justin Frank book of the same name.
    Thanks for the catch.

  7. I like Wonkette too - partly because she doesn't care too much about making the Democratic Party so-called look respectable. I personally am of the opinion that it deliberately lost the last two elections, by making itself look and sound like a horse's ass - never a vote winning strategy. Look at this nonsense

  8. SHOW YOUR DISGUST!
From now on, any time any liberal says the word 'Bush' or refers to him by any other moniker (e.g. Dufus, W.) they must accompany it by the appropriate hand guesture, holding up the right hand with the thumb and forefinger spaced less than an inch apart.
Practice this now, see how good it feels. Work it into conversation with Republicans.

  9. The Heretik has linked to this most eminent exegesis . He has also listed Perrspectives: Blog in his What I Read in the Waiting Room of Hell links area.

Give yourself a well deserved pat on the back.
    Now get back to work.

  10. I didnt read all the comments posted so someone might have already said this but I think Hannity is giving himself way too much credit there.

  11. OH BUT THAT EVERYONE WERE SENT BACK TO THE STATE OF THEIR BIRTH. TEXAS WOULD BE RID OF THE BUSHES AND I COULD GO BACK TO OKLAHOMA. JUST THINK HOW INTERESTING IT WOULD BE. MAYBE WE COULD ALL GET ALONG. DON HOFFMAN, WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS

  12. Bush is nothing but an ignorant ass. He screwed Texas and then went on screw the country. He is a small minded jerk that has about as much business of running the country as rocky racoon. He is so mind numbingly stupid and the biggest joke to hit this universe since big Ronnie. Hello, can we wake up. This guy is soooooo stupid and yet we have turned over the reigns. Bush is no more a Texan than Ork. He's a f..... YANKEE. sORRY, he's worse than that. Talking about a BOZOOOOOO

  13. And yet, he was re-elected. How stupid that majority is!
By the way, I find the premise of the joke picture humorous and not all that juvenile. Good work.
