The Avenging Angel Smites Schmidt, Woodward

November 22, 2005

It's been a very busy week for the Avenging Angel, punisher of conservative miscreants.
Last week, Bob Woodward, the famed Watergate reporter, confirmed that he sold his soul to the devil. First, Woodward penned two Bush hagiographies in exchange for exclusive access to the White House. Now it it turns out that Woodward, who on October 27th dismissed the CIA leak case as "gossip" and chided Patrick Fitzgerald as a "bull-dog", himself was told of Valerie Plame's identity in June 2003, a month before her outing by Bob Novak.
For this violation, the Angel fumes, Woodward has reserved himself a warm seat in Dante's Inner Circle... next to Richard Nixon.
Just days later, Jean Schmidt, the Ohio Congresswoman and Bush lapdog, earned the Angry One's wrath for her vicious slur against colleague and Marine hero John Murtha (D-PA). Schmidt took to the House floor and claimed that Ohio legislator and Marine reserve colonel Danny Bubp told her "to send Congressman Murtha a message: that cowards cut and run, Marines never do." Sadly for Ms. Schmidt, Bubp had said no such thing.
In response, Schmidt, the Angry One notes, did what comes naturally - play dumb.

  1. Two more candidates for Republican Assholes of the year; we may have to introduce dozens of new categories, as there seems to be a bumper crop of nominees all of a sudden.
